I can't understand why you want to map IP address or MAC address into
PID.
PID = 13 bit
MAC = 48 bit(ethernet)
IP = 32 bit or 128 bit
PID has been designed as a PROGRAM IDENTIFIER in broadcasting
world. MAC and IP address represent identification of the
communication node. If you map MAC address and PID, PID will be a MAC
address. That means PID is not Program ID but Receiver ID and the
number of receiver would be less than 8191. Do you think it is
scalable?
