This project investigated the use of adaptive packet protocols to counter
the effect of noise on a satellite link. It considered aspects such as the
design of a packet mode within a modem, selection of appropriate coding
and protocol parameters and measurement of the performance supported by
a link. Particular attention was paid to countering the effect of a varying
level of noise.
